Green Protect – Opportunities in biotechnology

Developed at the DWI Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials, Green Protect represents a new approach to biological plant protection. Green Protect protects plants from pests, pathogens, weeds and weather conditions using natural, non-synthetic compounds that are applied precisely where they are needed.

Its special features include:

• Natural processes that are specifically used for plant protection
• No harmful residues, making it suitable for organic farming
• Flexibility in application for different plant species

Green Protect is currently giving rise to the spin-off Verdancy, which shows how biotechnology and innovation can be brought together in practice.
With the possibilities offered by biotechnology, robotics and modern production systems, the Centre for Smart Industrial Agriculture pursues the goal of bringing innovations into application and further developing agriculture. The future of agriculture is smart, sustainable and characterised by opportunities that are to be realised together with its members.
